Belle Point Quilters Guild 2023 Programs
Meetings are at the Ft. Smith Senior Activity Center, 2700 Cavanaugh Rd.
Classes will be held at Mama’s Log House, 3715 E Clark Chapel Rd, Huntington, AR.
Prices of classes will be announced later.
January 23 – Quilters Fun Night hosted by our very own Joan Coffman! A fun night with “As the Thread Turns,” strip poker, and snacks! Look forward to a fun night with lots of laughs.
February 27 – Skills, Demos, and Tips from our talented community of members - an educational evening of even seam allowances, Dresdens, baskets, and more! Maybe something said by the instructors or bystanders will help you along your quilting journey.
March 27 – Jan McFarland will bring us her own Back Stories. Jan’s “quilting with a passion” began in 1989 while living in Houston when a neighbor invited her to attend a guild meeting. What difference can you make in someone’s life?
April 24 – Teresa Duryea Wong will present Native American Quilt Stories: 150 Years of Sewing & Survival. You can find out more about Teresa at https://teresaduryeawong.com. There is possible vending if her new book is available by then.
May 22 – Karen Hill will be coming from Spring Hill, Kansas, to take the floor with Miniatures Just for Fun. Karen will teach a Miniatures class on May 23 at 9:00. Vending will be available. (the class is currently full)
June 26 - – Diane Knott will present If Quilts Could Talk. Find out more at https://dianedknott.com. She will have patterns, templates, and books for sale. Diane will host a class on June 27 (9:30) entitled Sewing in Circles that she says will “Take the fear out of sewing curves forever!”
July 24 – July Fundraiser!
August 28 - Renee Carr, the Arkansas Coordinator, will enlighten us with details about the Arkansas Quilt Trail. Our Nancy Ewing and Beth Corley will lead a class August 29 (9:00), which will set you on your path to creating a 24 x 24 Barn Quilt to hang outside. September 25 – Edwina Schwartz will share My Quilting Journey as a Member of BPQG. She took a quilting class with her friend Jan Burney in 1993, found out about the guild, and joined! She’s been a member of our guild for 30 years.
October 23 - Andrew Lee will be our guest speaker with How Quilting Saved My Life and Gave Me Purpose. You can find more about Mr. Lee at Combat Quilter. The River Valley Quilts of Valor will provide a workshop October 24 (9:00) so that BPQG members can attend and contribute to creating a Quilt of Valor.
November 27 – Liz Granberg-Jerome will share Adventures with 60° Triangle Quilts (Hexified Panel Quilts). She will have kits and patterns available to purchase. Her class on November 28 (9:00) will teach us how to do a Hexified Panel. You can find her work at Gypsy Dreamer Quilts.
December 11 – It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Our fun-filled Christmas Celebration!
