Crystal Manning grew up in northern Missouri where she discovered passion for art in her younger years. She received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Missouri State University and minored in Art Design.  After working as a graphic designer for 10 years, she began using her art and design skills to create surface and textile patterns.  In 2015, she ordered her first sewing machine and began teaching herself how to sew with her designs printed on Spoonflower fabric.  Depsite stepping on pins and befriending the seam ripper, sewing and fabric design quickly became a new passion for her.  Since 2017, Crystal has been designing fabric for Moda Fabrics.  Encouraging sewists to make their own clothing: her fourth collection releases this spring with prints in rayon and cotton.  Crystal also designs quilt patterns to compliment her collections, establishing her voice in the quilting industry.

Crystal currently lives in Kansas City, MO where she continues to create new designs for licensing, Nature is her favorite sources of inspiration..

Crystal Manning & Gina Martin

Moda Fabric Designers

Gina Martin grew up sewing in Arkansas.  Taught by her mom and grandmother Gina's love affair with fabric began early.  She didn't know the process of putting art on fabrics even had a name until she took surface design classes while a student at the Kansas City Art Institute.  Her love of pattern and illustration led to a career as an artist for Hallmark Cards.  Gina's experience and success at Hallmark inspired her to follow a new path by starting her own business as an independent designer in 2001.  Since then, she's been fortunate to see her art on all kinds of products, but designing fabric for Moda has by far been her favorite collaboration.  Gina also supports her collections with quilt patterns by pulling out motifs and themes from the fabric designs and translating them into quilt blocks.  Gina's crisp, colorful, and happy collections are inspired by her love of all things vintage (whether it's furniture, fashion, buttons, textiles or kitchen gadgets) as well as folk art & traditional crafts.  In her spare hours Gina enjoys kitting, reading, sewing and spending time with her husband, Peter and their two small dogs, Boo & Cricket.
